Neurosurgery Consultation Guidelines
As many of you know, neurosurgery has released new guidelines (attached) which outline a trend towards less involvement with neurosurgery using modified brain injury guidelines (mBIG). This is supposed to start later this week — which obviously does not give us enough time to prepare any organizational-level changes. Sharing the guidance so everyone has as much info as possible.
CritiCall has advised you may be referred to the peer-to-peer support team (ED physicians to get advice on any particular cases rather than neurosurgery). Colin and I will work to get some processes built in Cerner to make it easier to follow the guidance ASAP.

To support knowledge translation of the updated guidelines, Ontario Health will host a multidisciplinary Community of Practice webinar on August 26, 1:00–2:00 PM. Staff from all sectors are welcome to attend.

Hero AI (ED Challenge)
If anyone is interested in joining a meeting with this vendor to learn about / give opinions on the tools being proposed to streamline care in the ED — the meeting is Monday July 27th at 11 AM.
This second Hero AI workshop will focus primarily on provider-facing features (clinical and operational workflows, dashboards, alerts, escalation prompts, and other tools that could support ED staff and leaders). Goal: further validate the areas not covered in the first workshop and narrow / finalize the potential scope of work.
